What Is Holter Monitoring Used For?

A Holter monitor is a small portable device that measures heart rhythm. It is typically used to record irregular heartbeats that may not be detected during a standard resting ECG. The device stays on the patient for 24 hours (or longer) and records the heart rhythm not only at rest but also during movement and stress.
