Migraine is a condition that begins with intense headache, often localized to one side of the head, mainly on the face. The causes of migraine are not yet fully understood. The condition typically starts during puberty and most often affects people under 30 years old. Before the headache attack, local vasoconstriction occurs, leading to reduced blood flow in the brain. The aura is a state that depends on the location of the angiospasm. Aura symptoms may include photopsia (seeing flashes of light), ptosis (drooping eyelid), and paresthesias (tingling sensations). Migraine headache is localized, pulsating, and intense. During an attack, symptoms such as dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, choking sensation, and loss of appetite may occur. It is characteristic to experience fear of bright light, sensitivity to sounds, and a desire to be alone. Treatment involves a comprehensive approach that includes maintaining a proper work-rest schedule and medication therapy.
