Here’s what is unacceptable to do against sun spots!

  • Under the influence of sunlight, both women and men can develop pigmented spots on the skin. These spots most often appear on the face, especially during the summer period. To prevent their appearance, as well as to avoid the spread and deepening of existing spots, it is important to be especially careful in the summer.
  • Pigmented spots caused by the sun — melasma — are one of the most concerning problems, especially among women. These spots spread on the facial skin in a “butterfly” shape, most often appearing on the forehead, sides of the face, cheeks, and around the nose. In women, they are often linked either to pregnancy or sun exposure, with a genetic predisposition present in both cases.
  • First of all, the spots must be properly diagnosed, the skin layer in which they are located determined, and only then is the treatment method chosen. Depending on the situation, therapy with creams or injectable medications may be prescribed.
  • The most common mistakes regarding sun spots are:
  • • Applying lemon juice to the spots
  • • Using herbs and home remedies
  • • Taking over-the-counter medications without a doctor’s prescription
  • • Performing peels without consulting a specialist
  • Everyone with pigmented spots must use sunscreen on sunny days — strictly as prescribed by a doctor.
